New Eco Friendly Art

City Living Baby! is pleased to add artwork by Print Pattern & Paper to our must haves collection. Each piece is a stylish find that is eco friendly or locally made and hand selected for you and your home.

Rebecca Peragine, founder of Print, Pattern and Paper is involved in work around the world that is environmentally conscious and helps better the lives of women, children and families globally....and it is translated through her work . Each piece incorporates natural elements, recycled materials and is printed with soy ink on 100% organic cotton canvas or recycled paper.
But what I love most about these pieces is that they are beautiful. While they have a vintage appeal to me they are fresh & modern. They stand on their own with any style of decor without ever being cutesie or too vibrant. And the brand new ABC's & Numbers posters are perfect learning tools for your little one as well. Each piece will be equally charming in the nursery or playroom as in the kitchen or family room....Enjoy Them!

Cupcake Chic

Cupcakes2

Cupcakes1

I took a little blogging break in July but I am back and in honor of my summer birthday this post is all about the cupcake. Have you noticed it's resurgence? I have become a little obsessed and still on a local search for the perfect one. I am still partial to Little Red Hens in NYC...

In the meantime, I have found stylish cupcakes for every age from organic crib bedding to my favorite Tiffany charms. Notice how cupcakes go a long way if you are not eating them :)

Are you decorating your child's room with a cupcake theme or craving something sweet for you? Here are a few tips:

1. Consider Pink and chocolate paint colors or
candy colored stripes for the perfect backdrop and the rest is in the decadent details.
2. Select
favorite artwork, a charming picture frame, switch out a few cabinet knobs and your well on you're way....all of which can easily be recycled in a year or two.
3. Keep the colors and design simple and fresh. Resist overdoing it.

What I would really like to do soon is plan a cupcake & cocktails party. We'll have to wear the part, Break open the cupcake kit, send out the cupcake invites and check out all the adorable party favors from tea light holders, to mini candles.

PS. How cute is the

Under The Sea

Under The Sea

If I were to put together a list of summer trends than the nautical look & Anchors Away from yesterday's post would be one and Under the Sea would certainly be another. I think Coral is officially here to stay as is animal print - it has become a classic. And this summer, it is interpreted in different colors other than coral pink and in so many more sophisticated materials from dinnerware to sconces and of course textiles.

I love too how the fish, turtles, whales and other sea creatures have made their way to the mainland too.

Viceroy Miami

Last week I posted on Club 50 at Viceroy Miami and this weekend I had the chance to visit. I only wish I had my camera with me but for now these brochure photos will have to do. If you are planning a trip to Miami or live nearby and are looking for a spa day or weekend away, Viceroy Miami is a must. From the moment you enter the lobby you are captivated by the exquisite interiors of one of my favorite Designer's, tastemaker Kelley Wearstler.

With 150 rooms, the hotel is intimate, luxurious and feels residential. Typical of Wearstler's Hollywood Glamour style, exotic marbles and wood finishes create the space from top to bottom, bejeweled with luxe chandeliers & sconces, lavish consoles, fine upholstery. She also combines aqua grasscloth wallcoverings and scenic artwork that quietly whispers beach resort.

Situated within the residences of Icon Brickell, Kelley Wearstler not only had the opportunity to partner with her husband of KOR Hotel Group but also the iconic (no pun intended) Philippe Starck. With amazing views of the Miami port and Brickell key, the pool deck includes 3 infinity pools with Starck's trademark, floating seating area, a large communal dining table, a handpainted tile rug, a grand fireplace and plenty of room to party.

The Spa designed solely by Philippe Starck has to be the most beautifully serene space I have ever seen. A palatial golden yellow chandelier hangs over a white marble, 5000 sf water lounge and a floating library overlooking Key Biscayne.

Outdoor Entertaining in B & W

Outdoor Entertaining

It was a beautiful day today, finally no rain for the first time in weeks. It was the perfect evening for entertaining outdoors and in style. I just love the spectator look of Black & White and it is easy to do and always looks so fresh and sophisticated for summer.

Add instant chic to your backyard, deck or balcony with this striking pavillion or umbrella. Then bring in some shine, natural elements, bold accessories and a splash of one juicy fruit color and you'll have a super stylish outdoor room to come home to all summer long.

Dress - Calypso
Eco Floral Pillow - Fabricadabra

Viceroy Art on 50 - Karin Garcia

The glamorous Viceroy Miami designed by iconic designer Kelly Wearstler now hosts Art on 50, a Tuesday night art series paired with cocktails and incredible views of the City at Club 50. Tonight, Karin Garcia will be the featured artist.

Originally from Argentina, Garcia resides in Miami and her work can be seen at the fabulous NiBa boutique, also co-sponsoring the event this evening. With an architecture & design background, she creates graphic, collage prints that transforms interior furnishings from found objects to contemporary lucite and textiles.

I immediately took to these particular pieces when I first saw them last summer. Bold. Playful. Natural. They are super chic and bring on instant drama.

Bromstad Debuts Mythic Paint Colors

I know I have not blogged since Earth Day. I suppose I was distracted in May but I am jumping back in with a goodie. David Bromstad, from the HGTV hit show Color Splash, is introducing a new color collection for Mythic Paint with new palettes available this summer. And Derek from Broward Mythic Paint recently gave me a first look.

The colors have a broad appeal, like his show they are nature inspired and fashionable yet very practical to suit any room, any home and any mood.
What sets Mythic Paint apart from other paint? It is non toxic. Zero VOCs (Volatile organic compounds that are bad for you and the environment). Excellent Coverage. No Odor. No Warning Labels. No compromising. Mythic will match any color.

My Bromstad picks:
America the Pewterful - lavender gray
Al Cappuccino - cocoa
What a Diva! - pink
If you are considering a paint color and would like assistance, feel free to email me a question or contact us to schedule an appointment.

Happy Earth Day!

What are you doing to celebrate? Here are a few green things to think about as you go through your day...
  1. When you are at the grocery store...buy organic and local produce. Begin with the berries, they are thin skinned and it really makes a difference.
  2. Are you still using plastic bags? Pick up a reusable bag or two that you can keep in the car so you don't forget them.
  3. Do you have to run to target? Think twice before buying a plastic toy for your child that is not PVC free. Select a healthier cleaning product like Seventh Generation over the generic brand.
  4. Begin Gardening this week. Plant an herb garden or a new tree.
  5. Recycle after dinner.
  6. Remember the little things can have a big impact. Remove your phone charger from the outlet prior to leaving the house. Lower the A/C. and turn the lights off in the rooms you are not using.
  7. Plan your weekend. Are there any Earth Day events in your area that you and your family can enjoy?
  8. Check out QVC....It's an Earth Day Celebration. Buy 12000 hours of Durabrite light per CFL bulb!
  9. One of my favorites...Sofie Uliano will be presenting her bestselling book Gorgeously Green and her new book: The Gorgeously Green Diet on QVC at 3pm and 10pm.
  10. Ed Begley jr. from Living with Ed will be on QVC throughout the day and at 7pm and 10pm.

Share the purpose of the day with your loved ones and enjoy....

Mod Green Pod - Eco Chic Fabrics

I am on a quest for fabulous eco chic fabrics and have come across some great finds. Today, I revisited one of my very favorite collections of 100% certified organic cotton fabrics and wallcoverings from Mod Green Pod. And found out that they have changed their processes setting a new, healthier and more affordable industry standard that is way below the cost of comparable non-organic designer lines. Amazing!

Why are these fabrics a healthier, safer option for the environment, your home and particularly the baby's room? Because there are no pesticides in the organic cotton, no toxic chemicals used in their water based processes and no additives in the finish that can lead to allergies or disease. Plus they are all produced in the United States.

I am loving this fresh, high end collection with great graphics that will add pop to any room. I can't wait for my samples of the new collection to arrive!
